Swindle. The international financiers have been able to take away from the American people more than $300,000,000,000 (three hundred billion dollars) worth of their property during the past few years for which they gave absolutely nothing in return. On top of that they have forced the American people into an interest bearing indebtedness for future payment of another $300,000,000,000. The people have been educated by the financiers’ controlled publicity instruments that this racket is all right. This interest-bearing indebtedness consists of federal, state, county, municipal and all private indebtedness upon which interest has to be paid such as bonds, mortgages and various kinds of loans. The total amount of interest that the people must pay to the financiers annually on all of this interest-bearing indebtedness amounts to more than $20,000,000,000 (twenty billion dollars). That is more interest to be paid than there is money in the United States of America. In fact, not counting the gold, which is not money anyway but is a hook to catch the people with, there is less than $9,000,000,000 (nine billion dollars) in usable money in the United States of America and the largest part of that lies dead in the vaults of the financiers. It is quite probable that there is not more than $4,000,000,000 (four billion dollars) in actual circulation—that is, money in the hands of the people themselves—today. So for every one dollar in actual money used by the people they must pay four dollars in interest annually. Therefore the American people must pay four-fifths of their earnings to the financiers as tribute because they have allowed themselves to go into a stupor while the slippery financiers were trapping them and getting control of all avenues of publicity and learning and using them to dope the people into a state of complete helplessness. Now that is not the worst of it. Their intentions are to make of the American people a slave race and just as soon as they can decide among themselves who will boss the job they will put in an alien dictator, establish a financial aristocracy, close all of the public schools and force the people into a state of illiteracy so that they can use them purely as beasts of burden. It is the financiers’ intention to double-cross the politicians just as they have double-crossed the laboring men, the merchants, the farmers and the manufacturers and throw them out of office and run the government by the sword, gun and bayonet. They intend to do away with the civil police and put soldiers in their places. In fact they intend to do away with all civil government entirely and run America as they are now running Italy, Germany and Russia where the people have lost ali semblance of freedom of speech, freedom of press, freedom of radio, freedom of religion, freedom of assembly and are now mere serfs in the hands of financial swindlers.
