for a smoke of it.
“Give me the dope,” says the pitiful wretch to the owner of it, “and I will kill your man for you.” That is what smoking does for people. Parents that permit children to smoke and drink are responsible for any crimes that they commit after they grow up. Your Creator has loaned you magnificent machine in the shape of a human body to be operated for useful purposes through your senses and mentality. He did not loan it to you to ruin with dope and liquor. Whiskey and dope won't make a man-made automobile operate properly; neither will whiskey and dope make a God-made man operate properly. Now, the rules of the Direct Credits Society do not prohibit people from signing applications for passive membership. We permit everybody, no matter how good or bad they may be to have a co-operative voice to Congress stating that the wretched system of FINANCIALISM that enables a few swindlers to sap up four-fifths of the wealth that everybody creates must be abolished and in its place must be establisned Direct Credits for Everybody, which will afford a purchasing power to everybody equal to their productive power, that will give Justice to everybody and harm nobody. So the millions of people who have already signed applications for membership in the Direct Credits Society are asking, “Commander, how soon can the people have and enjoy the benefits to be had through the introduction of the Lawson Plan? BUT, if you want to be an officer pro tem in this organization and act as an adviser to the people as such, then you must abide by all of the rules and regulations in force and take orders accordingly. So, as passive applicants for membership, you can follow your own personal inclinations, but, as officers pro tem you must follow the rules of this organization. The Commander-in-Chief of the Direct Credits Society refuses to recommend to the people at large officers as advisers until he has tried them out thoroughly for a number of years and believes that they are trustworthy, honest, relable, stable, loyal and free from the different degrading vices that make weaklings out of human beings. Therefore, I now warn all Generals pro tem of the Direct Credits Society who may be addicts of the cigarette, liquor, dance or gambling habits that I intend to withdraw their officership pro tem on or before the first day of January, 1940, unless they forsake those habits in the meantime.
