have to pay to financiers now. Get
that straight in your minds. How much money does the American people have in their possession now with which to pay that Three Hundred Billion Dollars of interest bearing indebtedness? Not very much. Another trifling matter that you should know about and that is; the financiers have stolen from the American people another Three Hundred Billion Dollars worth of their property. Yes, since 1929 they took over two hundred thousand factories from the manufacturers. They took over three million stores from the merchants. They took more than three million farms from the farmers. They took more than six million homes from the working people. What did they give for all of that? Nothing. They didn’t even thank anybody for it. Touts — you who sell out your friends and relatives — don’t forget that the financiers are going to take those bones away from you next, and that your children will eventually go hungry, too. Yes, and don’t forget that every parent that tries to stop Lawson from fighting for the Children’s rights will be despised by their own offspring some day. A few years ago, when I was calculating the value of American properties, I estimated there was about Four Hundred Billion Dollars worth of property in the United States. That means One Hundred Billion Dollars worth of properties for the One Hundred and Thirty Million people, and Three Hundred Billion Dollars worth of properties for a few swindling financiers, doesn’t it? What is the result? Well, you still have among you Americans, from the Atlantic to the Pacific Oceans, One Hundred Billion Dollars in property. But you owe the swindlers Three Hundred Billion Dollars in interest-bearing indebtedness. Any business man ought to be able to understand those figures. Suppose you have a store, and it is mortgaged for three times what it is worth. Do you really own that store? You know you don’t. You know that the fellow who holds the mortgage on the store can take it away from you any time he wants to. Well, that is the position the American people are in today. The financiers have that sort of a mortgage on the United States of America and can foreclose it according to law any time they want to. Yes and it won’t be long now before the job is completed and the American people left stranded altogether. Furthermore, the people will still have an ever increasing interest-bearing indebtedness to pay to the financiers perpetually from their wages and taxes. There is but one hope left and that is that the people wake up and frustrate the consummation of this fraud. That can be accomplished if all of the people will join the |
