on the brink of receiving the
worst whipping of all time.
Why is it that the people ALWAYS lose and that the financiers ALWAYS win? The answer is plain. Acccrding to our present uneconomic system it is right to cheat each other and fatten ourselves at the expense of everybody. THE PEOPLE DON’T KNOW WHAT THEY WANT AND THE FINANCIERS DO. The people have never had a program of their own nor have they ever had a leader. They have had STEERERS a-plenty but never a Leader. Their steerers run them into the blind alleyways of the financiers, from whence there is no escape. In this helpless state, they are picked off, a few at a time, and unmercifully drubbed. The people have been so ridicutously idiotic that they have always accepted the touts of the financiers as their leaders, and even after they have been deceived and misled time and time again they not only continue to accept those touts for leaders but actually honor and glorify them and set them upon pedestals as their everlasting heroes. There is no question in the minds of the financiers as to THEIR program. It is: first, last and all time to skin the people. The peculiar part of the financiers’ program is that they make the people skin themselves. They make the people whip themselves. They use one against the other to do the skinning and whipping, but, THEY — THE FINANCIERS — ALWAYS TAKE THE CUTICLE. They choose the meanest characters for their touts and have them pretend that they are friends and champions of the people. The financiers control all avenues of publicity, so they are able to throw upon the people their worst double-crossing touts as heroes, and there is no-way that the people can learn how the game is played against them. The people quarrel over the merits of these touts and actually fight each other in defense of the traitors who betray them. The financiers own the radio; they control almost all newspapers; they control the screen; they control the colleges. They control the minds of the people and educate them that their method of skinning is the best way for the people to be skinned. What is this method? It is THE INTEREST COLLECTION SWINDLE, whereby the people turn over their money to the financiers and then pay them tribute for the use of it. So, during the past several years, the financiers have taken from the American people by this incongruous program more than Three Hundred Billion Dollars’ worth of their wealth. They have taken from the American manufacturers more than 200,000 factories, from the American merchants more than 3,000,000 stores, from the American farmers more than 3,000,000 farms, and from the American workingmen more than 6,000,000 homes. They have taken the railroads, airlines, boatlines, mines, quarries, hotels, apartment houses, office buildings and publishing houses.
