Mentality

CHAPTER 24

THOUGHT

The three leading factors in the life of man are: (1) Matter, of which his body is built. (2) Power, which causes the movement of his body. (3) Thought, which directs the power that causes the movement of his body.

Matter is made up of various substances. Power is derived from suction and pressure. Thought comes from registered impressions.

Mentality is a substance of superlative penetrating qualities which acts as a carrier of thoughts.

All matter contains mentality in greater or lesser quantities that is squeezed out by pressure and drawn back by suction.

The center of suction and pressure of the combined forces of mental activity of man is in the brain.

The center of suction of the mental system draws into itself the impressions received through the various cells of the body which are transmitted through the mental instruments operated by the menorgs and the effect of these impressions causes consciousness.

The greater number of varying impressions passing through the mental system capable of being absorbed by the brain the greater is the capacity of the mind for the utilization of thoughts.

As intelligence is received through impressions from all parts of the body, the mind digests and utilizes it for the preservation and development of the body as a whole.

Thinking is caused by suction and pressure. Pressures starts impressions and suction draws them to the center of consciousness.

Pressure exerted upon mental terminals causes waves of mentality to pass through the mental fibers and by the nature of these waves the nature of the impression is made known to the mind.

A thought is a tangible expression brought into form through a combination of mental impressions. It can be transmitted to another mind directly, by force of pressure and suction, or it can be transposed through a combination of sounds and then recorded by means of letters made up into words and sentences.

By increased action on the part of the menorgs through their mental instruments, increased power of suction takes place which develops greater capacity for mental impressions that can grasp greater thoughts.

Intellectual development in man is caused by the growth of superior instruments that consume large quantities of mentality.

The mind of man acts as the pilot that steers his body through the substance in which it is immersed and the mental attitude caused by conditions as they arise.

There are times, however, when man allows his mind to become so weak that the subordinate mental functions attempt to steer him, but with a defective mind man is like a ship with a defective steering apparatus, its course is uncertain and runs amuck against destroying conditions.
